You just closed your first deal, settled a case, or made a big sale. Now it?s time to celebrate. Your boss invites you into his office where various executives are lined up, cigars in hand to mark the occasion. They begin to light up until it?s your turn to join in. There?s just one problem- you?re like a deer in the headlights. In
The Business Insider Michael Herklotz, the Executive Director of Nat Sherman Cigar Emporium in Manhattan, says that ?Smoking is supposed to be the fun part. The last thing you want to do is fumble, or light the wrong end.? So how can you avoid these slip ups?
Herklotz warns to be careful when choosing the cigar. ?Smaller isn?t necessarily better.? New smokers tend to choose a smaller or shorter cigar. The problem is that the shorter the cigar, the closer the hot part is to your mouth. It gets hotter much faster which is not a pleasant experience for first time cigar smokers. You also need to remember that a cigar is not a cigarette. Cigars are not meant to be inhaled, and if you make the mistake of doing so, you will get caught up in a storm of coughing and wheezing, signaling to your superiors that you do not regularly partake in this sacred hobby of theirs. So just keep calm and don?t over think it. After all, you?re supposed to be celebrating!
