The humidor is almost as important as your luxury custom tobacco cigar. If you just bought a humidor, don?t put your cigars in right away. You can ruin your tobacco! Humidors need to be broken in to simulate the moisture in the air of the tropical countries in which these cigars are made. Here?s how to break in your humidor:
1. Grab a brand new sponge. Make sure it is unscented or does not have any fluids on it. Put a few drops of distilled water on to the sponge. Do not use tap water. Tap water contains chemicals that can clog the pores of the humidor.
2. Wipe the interior of the humidor with the damp sponge. Make sure to get all of the parts, including the dividers and the interior lid. Wipe off the excess water with a different clean, dry sponge.
3. Place a generous amount of distilled water on the wet sponge. Leave it in the humidor, close the lid, set the desired humidity level and leave the sponge in the humidor over night.
4. The next day, check if the sponge is dry or damp. If it is dry, place more water on the sponge and leave it in the humidor over night again. If it is damp, your humidor has absorbed all the moisture it needs and you?re ready to store your cigars!
Follow these simple steps and you'll be on your way to storing cigars in no time! ?You don?t want to destroy your hand rolled tobacco leaves by not breaking in your humidor correctly...
